Description
Govan Schoolhouse built in 1906 in what was at one time a thriving community in eastern Lincoln County near the towns of Wilbur and Almira.
“Govan is an unincorporated community in Lincoln County, in US state of Washington. Govan was founded as a ranching community which was slowly abandoned as farming in the area decreased. Today an abandoned school house and post office along with a few houses (both abandoned and occupied) are all that remain. It is considered a ghost town.”

Beautiful architecture (and photo). Amazing that it's lasted this long!
Jerry Abbott replied:
Thank you Ron and you’re right it is amazing it’s still standing - unfortunately I think it’s starting to crumble a bit faster than previous.

This is a beautiful, haunting image, Jerry. It must have been a pretty little school in its time. I'm glad you caught it before it suffered more damage.
Jerry Abbott replied:
Thank you Martha! I’m glad I captured it now as well because it’s now starting to deteriorate rapidly. It’s near where I grew up and it was well known and much photographed.
